Release notes

What’s new in Grove.

Every release, in order. Grove updates automatically — but here’s exactly what changed and why.

0.2.8Latest
Aug 3, 2026
Create new worktrees from the branch you already have.
NEW
  • New worktree from any branch. Use a worktree’s action menu to start a new worktree from that branch, with a safe random name ready to go.
IMPROVED
  • Clearer branch sources. Choose local branches or remote branches separately when creating a worktree, instead of scanning a mixed list.
0.2.7
Jul 22, 2026
Jump to any project by typing.
NEW
  • Type-ahead project jump. With the panel focused, just start typing a project name — Grove scrolls straight to the match and flashes it, no search box or filtering. When several projects match, cycle through them with the arrow keys or the scroll wheel.
  • Project overview. A new grid button in the header opens every project as a chip grid; click one to jump straight to it.
IMPROVED
  • Calmer, easier-to-scan project list. Project rows drop the always-on repository path and the divider lines, with a little more space between projects and a soft highlight over the one you are pointing at.
  • Settings moved to the footer. The settings gear now sits next to Quit in the bottom-right, keeping the header uncluttered.
0.2.6
Jun 30, 2026
Project imports survive broken worktrees.
FIXED
  • Missing Conductor projects. Import now recovers the project repo root when a stale workspace still points back to it, instead of skipping the whole project.
  • Clear Add Project feedback. Adding a project now confirms the selected project name and root path, and distinguishes cancellation from backend failure.
0.2.5
Jun 26, 2026
Worktrees start from the right branch.
IMPROVED
  • Remote base branches. New worktree creation now includes remote-tracking branches such as origin/main, and prefers the remote default branch when it is available.
FIXED
  • Cleaner branch picker. Remote aliases like origin and origin/HEAD are filtered out, so the base branch menu only shows usable branches.
0.2.4
Jun 26, 2026
Long-running work stays visible.
FIXED
  • Setup and archive stay responsive. Grove now runs project setup and archive shell commands away from the app runtime workers, while still waiting for the real command to finish before marking the operation complete.
  • Progress alerts no longer disappear early. Long-running action alerts stay on screen until the operation finishes, fails, or you close them yourself.
0.2.3
Jun 22, 2026
Version in view, updates on demand.
IMPROVED
  • Version always visible. The current Grove version now shows in the footer and under Settings → Updates.
  • Check updates on click. Settings → Updates checks only when you press the button — opening Settings no longer triggers an automatic check.
0.2.2
Jun 22, 2026
Worktree branches stay in sync.
FIXED
  • Live branch & git status. Grove now refreshes each worktree’s real git branch and status when you open the panel or expand a project — a branch you switched outside Grove (git switch) shows up correctly instead of the one from when the worktree was created.
0.2.1
Jun 22, 2026
Check for updates without relaunching.
NEW
  • Check for updates in Settings. A new Settings → Updates section lets you check for the latest Grove and install it on the spot — no need to quit and reopen the app.
0.2.0
Jun 22, 2026
Smoother first launch, more reliable Ghostty.
NEW
  • Guided first launch. The first time you open Grove, Settings opens automatically so you can choose which apps appear as one-click quick-open buttons.
IMPROVED
  • Ghostty opens reliably. Opening a workspace in Ghostty now always lands in your current Ghostty window at the right directory. The separate window/tab preference was removed — on macOS a new window per workspace couldn’t be opened dependably.
0.1.0
Jun 21, 2026
Grove’s first preview.
NEW
  • Worktrees in your menu bar. Manage git worktrees grouped by project, and switch between checkouts in one click — no terminal required.
  • Create & archive instantly. Spin up an isolated worktree for any feature, fix, or AI agent, then archive it when you’re done.
  • Setup scripts. Define a per-project Setup script that runs automatically as each worktree is created.
  • Open anywhere. Open a worktree in your editor, terminal, or Finder — point Grove at VS Code, Cursor, iTerm, Ghostty, or any app.
  • Universal macOS build for Apple silicon & Intel, with in-app updates and Homebrew install.
